Sydney’s Broken Neck Medical Bills

Donation protected

Friday afternoon our sister Sydney Olsen was at work and she started to not feel well. she decided to sit down and while sitting on the chair she passed out, falling and hitting the front of her head on the concrete floor. This caused her to fracture the c2 vertebrae in her neck. The fracture was a complete break on one side and a partial fracture on the other side. She was then taken by ambulance to Richfield hospital. Later a CT scan would show that the fractures in her neck were compressing the Vertebral Arteries, causing them to spasm and bleed. She was then life-flighted from Richfield to Utah Valley hospital to a neurosurgeon. The neurosurgeon thought that she would need surgery due to the compressed arteries but as of right now she does not. He would like to try and avoid surgery due to the loss of back and forth motion that would be lost after the procedure. For now, she will be in a neck brace for 3 months and will need to go to many physical therapy sessions. She is unable to work and in need of help daily. She has been in the hospital for 4 days. The doctors say that she is very very lucky. Her health is improving every day and she will be able to leave as soon as she can get up and walk on her own. Anything would be much appreciated with the many medical bills that are coming her way.
