SWIRL Program 2017

Donation protected
The SWIRL (Story Writing in Remote Locations) Program for 2017 is an initiative created by Lawry Mahon, which is run through Victoria University.

The program will see 17 Victoria University students, as well as two staff members and Lawry, spend 28 days in remote communities around the Katherine region of the Northern Territory (around 3 hours South East of Darwin).

During their time in Katherine, the students will take part in a placement program where they will work in remote schools with Indigenous Australian children to support them writing their own stories. The pre-service teachers will also have the opportunity to engage in cultural activities.

The money raised will go towards enhancing the experiences of the pre-service teachers during their time in the Northern Territory.
