Swim Tuff: How I Swam My Way Out of A Bottle

Many people know that Open Water Swimming has become a passion of mine, but what they don't know is how it actually saved my life. Ten years ago, I made the life-changing decision to give up alcohol, become sober, and take up swimming. I haven't looked back since and have progressed from barely making it 100 yards to tackling challenges like swimming around the 20-mile circumference of Jamestown, RI, to the 19-mile trek from Block Island to Jamestown. This past summer, I became the first person to swim the 24-mile length of Narragansett Bay from Providence to Newport. At the same time, I am thrilled to announce that I have raised over a quarter of a million dollars for the environmental non-profit Clean Ocean Access. It is time that people hear my story as Director and Filmmaker Matt Corliss, captures the often stigmatized and misunderstood world of addiction that affects nearly everyone in one way or another. Please help us make this a reality by contributing to the cost of creating and producing a film that will help others look for the necessary impetus to make the difficult life choices to turn things around. For me, it was swimming, but for others, it might be something different. The funds given will cover the expenses of production, editing, and marketing of the film as we plan to enter it into various film festivals.
