My name is Amber, last night my sister Krystle Cornelis came home to her alarms going off in her house around 12 am. She did not know the cause of the alarms and opened the door to be rushed with smoke and heat. She called for her animals and neither came. She soon called for 911 and continued to call for them. The firefighters arrived to find a firehad started in her kitchen and that her cat Guinness did not survive and was found in the boys' bedroom and Belle was found down in the basement. The significance of that is that Belle does not go to the basement unless to eat and the only way to get to the basement is to go through the kitchen. 

It is heartbreaking feeling knowing my sister and her family not only lost thier home, but lost their cat and are clinging on for Belle. 
She so far has sufferedfrom cornea ulcers in both eyes due to the heat from passing through the kitchen and smoke inhalation. 
She is being treated at the Eastern Iowa Veterinary Specialty Center in Cedar Rapids for her injuries. She was placed on a ventilator on Sunday night and has been on it since.  
 My sister rescued Belle from the Cedar Valley Humane society in 2008, two days after she closed on her home. Her husband used to joke about that he had no say in picking her because she is kind of a needy dog. She loves to paw at you. She has been such a great part of her family and for her boys. 
They are going to displaced for months and this page fundraiser helps everything out. 
Her husband Andrew works night at ADM and Krystle is a full time student and works at Cedar Rapids Toyota. They have two young boys under 5 and are praying that they can walk into their new house with Belle.

We are only asking for $5000 and any money that exceeds $6500 will be donated to the Cedar Rapids Fire department and the Vet hospital she is staying. They want to give back to the community as much as they can as people are giving to them. We do not expect her full bill to be paid for, just asking for relief. Each day and each dollar helps save Belle.
