Swedish Fish

Donation protected
With a dead Dad and a Chuck Norris obsessed Mum, 15-year-old Mindy yearns for a normal life. Instead, things get weirder, when, Yohan, a young Swedish boy, comes to stay.

Swedish Fish is a 10-minute short film. A coming of age comedy-drama (or Dramedy) exploring the strange ways people deal with grief. It's relatable but weird, dark but funny -- and is set in the scenic town of Stoke-on-Trent.

A note from the Director, Olive Sant:

"Swedish fish aims to look into the trials of growing up in a small British town during the 80s.  It focuses on the bonds teenagers create through sometimes bizarre circumstances. The film is heavily based on my mother’s experience as a teenager -- her mother was actually the President of the World Wide Chuck Norris Fan Club (The WWCNFC) and a 17-year-old Swedish boy actually came to stay. Bringing this story to life on screen is something I’m really passionate about."

Back to the Producer, Rob Waite:

Having funded one half of the film's budget amongst ourselves, we are now looking for donations from friends and family. We are not a registered charity, but we are desperate.

A donation of any amount will ensure we can:

Pay our actors, cover their travel costs, secure authentic locations and supplement the Art Department budget. We need a lot of 80s decor, and a lot of pictures of Chuck Norris.

We have less than a shoestring's worth of money at the moment, and it really doesn't stretch very far across 10 minutes -- especially when trying to make a film set 40 years ago.

We will be grateful for any donation and will ensure every donor gets a special thanks in the credits.
