Hello everyone! We are Locatora Radio and we need your help! We are seeking support for a survivor of domestic violence who is facing eviction and is in need of help from the community. Please continue reading to learn more about this survivor. At the bottom of this description are photos of the notice of unlawful detainer (EVICTION) that she has received.
She is a LA resident, a mother, a woman of color, an advocate, artist, activist, and an organizer for abused mothers who is, herself, still fighting ongoing abuse from the father of her child. To protect her safety and identity, we have decided to use the platform that the podcast has garnered in order to fundraise on her behalf. This gofundme is linked to her bank information, and all funds will go directly to the survivor. Locatora Radio will not see any of the money raised.
Domestic violence is the leading cause of homelessness amongst women, and this survivor is doing everything in her power to protect herself from ongoing abuse, organize other abused mothers, and maintain a safe home for her child. We want to ensure that this survivor does not become part of that statistic. Due to the domestic violence and the overly litigious nature of her family law case with her abuser, she has lost jobs and time that she could be dedicating to work. To support herself, this survivor drives for multiple ride sharing and delivery apps, but still has a hard time making ends meet. Instead, she is forced to spend a large portion of her working day responding to ongoing harassment as well as legal, emotional, and financial abuse.
When mothers are safe, housed, and cared for, they are best able to mother and nurture their children. Material support for a domestic violence survivor can go a LONG way in ensuring that children are safe and their needs are met. A donation to this gofundme would not only have an extremely positive impact on this survivor's life, but on the life of her child.
To cover the cost of court fees, attorney fees, and to maintain her residence, our survivor will need at least $6,000. She continues to work as a driver for mutliple ride sharing and delivery apps, but she cannot come up with the full amount on her own.
