Survive from Childhood Cancer

Donation protected

My little nephew Irusha who lives in Sri Lanka is a very adorable, charming and chubby 9 months old baby. He is very playful and just like any other baby, he is the source of happiness of our family especially for my one and only sister and her husband as well. Unfortunately, to everyone’s surprise, he was recently diagnosed with Eye cancer during his routine check-up with the doctor.

Retinoblastoma (eye cancer) is very rarely found among young children and the news is very devastating to the whole family. Both of his eyes were affected but one of the eye still has a good chance to be saved. The doctors are trying to recover the less effected eye and the other one has already removed as there was no possibility to recover and it was going to be a life threat. They have started Laser treatment and Chemotherapy and doctors had decide to remove the badly affected eye to prevent the spreading of cancer to the other parts of the body.

Under going chemotherapy as we all know is never easy but it is a lot worse when the patient is a very young baby less than a year old. My sister and the whole family is fighting together with our baby. He is undergoing chemo and laser treatment, thank God, our baby Irusha is showing good signs of recovery. Though it is difficult for him, we know that he is being tough and strong bearing all the difficulties of the treatment. He is still regularly playing once his body has recovered after a chemo treatment and this gives our family a hope.

My sister got married on her mid-thirties and they were waiting for a baby for a while as they found some difficulties to falling in pregnancy. They then spent every cent they saved to have a baby and finally went for IVF procedure. The first cycle failed and they fell down rock bottom both financially and emotionally. I helped them to fund for the second IVF cycle as I know how much they love to have a baby of their own and thankfully it was successful and they had their Baby boy Irusha February this year. He was growing very well and is a very cute little baby boy. But the things that are suddenly happening in their lives are unbelievable and we all don’t understand why are all this is happening to their family.

We are knocking to your kind hearts to please be kind enough to include our little one in all of your prayers. We believe together all our prayers and blessings will definitely make a difference to survive our little boy’s life.

The treatment for Irusha will take a couple of years as he is in a high risk to have a cancer in other part of his body in the future. I feel their sufferings and I am trying to support them both emotionally and financially but their family need more help. My sister has stopped working and is now taking full-time care for my nephew mostly in the hospitals, only me and her husband support them financially and with the expenses. We deeply appreciate all the prayers and financial assistance that you can give to their family, there is no such thing as small or big amount as this will all help to support and increase the chance of survival of little baby Irusha.

Please help their family by donating any little amount and sharing this post.

May the Almighty bless you and your family.
