Surprise Bedroom Makeovers for Medical Families

Jake was born to Chad and Melissa in July of 2017. In July 2018, three days before his first birthday Jakey was diagnosed with neuroblastoma.
Chad and Melissa spent most of the next 6 months at the Children’s Hospital with Jake. Between scans, surgeries, chemotherapy, and infections because of his compromised immune system, there were only a handful of nights spent at home as a family.
Two weeks before Christmas the family got some great news, treatment was working! They got to spend Christmas at home.
Unfortunately the good news didn’t last. Shortly after Christmas Jake was rushed to the hospital after having a seizure. Scans showed that the cancer had recurred in his brain and spine. Over the next few months Chad and Melissa watched over Jakey while he endured aggressive radiation and chemotherapy treatments.
Through it all, Jake was a true inspiration. He was the most delightful little guy, even when he was so sick he had a smile that would light up the room.
In late June, just weeks before his second birthday, Jake passed away.
It’s been a little over a year since Jake took his last earthly breath and Chad and Melissa have now had a new baby. A sweet girl who will be taught all about her amazing big brother through the stories Jake’s family and friends share with her.
A part of that legacy is this sweet new baby being in the same nursery that was once her brother’s. We would like to make this space extra special by providing a dreamy nursery with special memorial touches for this new little girl to know all about how special her big brother truly was. It will be a space where Jake can be remembered but also a new space for a little girl to grow and be loved and nurtured in.
How can we accomplish this? Well, this is where you come in! We need your help financially to purchase items such a draperies, linens, and special touches. We also need help in the way of donated time from contractors and painters and labourers.
