Surgical Relief for Dela
Donation protected
Dela, our "right arm" at Short Stacks Cleaning &
everyones favorite Chicago Outfit Roller Derby Coach a.k.a. "Puck", is in need of MAJOR bodily repair. On Monday, 1/8/18, Dela will have reconstructive surgery to correct tricep laceration and nerve damage. She'll be out of "working order" for at least 8 weeks (doctor's orders!) We've created this page in an effort to assist her with any costs she'll have while recouperating.
Backstory: Dela's elbows dislocate very easily and have since she was a child. Constant dislocations, from Gymnastics to Roller Derby, especially high impact dislocations from sport-related falls, have caused significant damage. At some point during the dislocations, her bones broke and re-healed incorrectly, causing nerve damage and tricep laceration.
Procedure: In layman's terms, the procedure Dela will endure on 1/8/18 is: Surgeons will re-break Dela's elbow, putting it back together correctly, while re-attaching her tricep muscle (which is currently severed), also correcting current nerve issues to prevent further nerve damage. **Since these are small bones, they may have to take some bone from her hip to re-attach the tricep. The extent that she’ll be laid up post-surgery is uncertain.
The main complication is, if her bones don't fit back together as well as they should, she may lose range of motion. We're optimistic she'll make a full recovery and your thoughts, prayers and positive ju-ju are appreciated! Please consider contributing, any demomination is appreciated.
Thank you!
