Ian's Surgery To Happiness

Donation protected
Hi my name is Keila Correa and Nelson Ivan Colon. We are the parents of Ian Colon.  Our beloved son while he was in the womb he prematurely positioned head first between mom's pelvis bones. While he was growing, obviously,  he was running out of space and one of the things that did not developed properly was the cartilage in his ears, specially the left ear.

When Ian was born his left ear was close like petals to a rose before blooming. As that example was used, the doctors told us that the ear will self correct while he grows. It did, but not properly, and now our son is noticing it on his pictures that both of his ears are not identical as he sees his friends and family. It is to a point that he has asked us why he have a "pointy forward" ear. Of course we try to explain him what happened but at 6 years old little he actually understand about it and is starting to grow a complex about it. He has arrived from school in many occasions telling us that some kids were asking him why he have a "pointy" ear. We try our best talking to him not have that affect him, but, the progress we do it is drawn back again when he sees a recently taken picture or some other kids being innocently obnoxious asking why of the ear. We know that when kids grow they tend to be meaner or less innocent when asking, bullying and expressing themselves when things are different or unusual to them.

We did some research and there is a surgery that can be done at an early age to correct his lack of cartilage in his ears. We meet with the surgeon this past December and we were told that Ian is a perfect candidate for the surgery. The expenses for this surgery are quite high and on top of that there is a 2 month recovery process on which he needs full nursing in that period. The surgery was  expected to be done late May-early June 2015 but the Surgeon got deploy for 6 month for the US Army.We had to move the surgery for next summer 2016. We love deeply our son just as it is, but, as concerned parents we want our child to grow without dealing with possible mistreats, bullying, etc. while at school, friends, family and sports. Any financial help for this surgery and recovery process will be greatly appreciated.
