Surgery to help Miguel Rajaona of Madagascar

Hello Everyone,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read the story of Miguel Rajaona, a little Angel living in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

Miguel Rajaona is the miracle son of my very dear friend Christina Rakotovololona Rajaona.

Christina has the rare condition known as Diastrophic Dysplasia.
Because of her very short stature, Christina was told that it was nearly impossible for her to conceive a child.
And then, five years ago, the miracle did happen! Christina gave birth to Miguel ! Family and friends alike were all ecstatic for the new parents.

For info, Miguel's father, Patrick is of normal height. At birth, Miguel was a perfectly healthy baby and his height seemed to be normal.

Miguel is an adorable child, with a beautiful smile and very energetic.

For the first 3 years of his life, Miguel seemed to be growing normally. At around 3 and half years of age, his development began to stall and his limbs started to show signs of malformation.

After innumerable visits to the hospital and private doctors in Madagascar, they still haven't come to any conclusion regarding
Miguel's medical condition and appropriate treatment.

Christina and Patrick's appeal for help to the Malagasy government regarding treatment abroad for Miguel has remained unanswered.
Christina has even sent a letter to the Malagasy President, but to avail.

After some research and talks with medical consultants from abroad, there are some good news for Miguel. He can be treated abroad for
his condition before his growth plates are definitely fused. His parents are having talks with Vaidam Health in New Delhi India and  Wellkin Hospital in Moka, Mauritius to determine which treatment plan will be the most beneficial for him.

Christina is very passionate that her son leads a normal life and do not have the difficulties she has had to face her whole life due to her condition.

The testing and diagnosis will include X-Rays, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Computed Tomography Scan, Radioisotope bone Scan, Genetic Testing among others. Orthopaedic specialists will determine surgical options such as spinal fusion or implanting growing rods to stabilize the child’s spine for growth,

We are raising funds to support Miguel and his family to take care of all his medical costs, as well as accommodation and flights for himself and
his parents to accompany him either to Mauritius or India for his treatment.
