Surgery for Brain Tumor Removal

Donation protected
In early 2018, I was surprised to find out that my horrible head pain, memory issues, visual disturbances, tinnitus, fatigue, and dizziness was caused by a rare brain tumor.

I’ve struggled with “migraines” since I was 19. They started off as something I had to deal with every once in a while. Intense head pain that made me feel as if I was dying. Light sensitivity. Noise sensitivity.

Since I was 24, I began having them several times a month.

And then in October/November of 2017, I began having them multiple times a week with constant head pressure and pain.

With this came intermittent memory problems. Word recall issues. Problems identifying names.

Vertigo that kept me scared to drive.

Hearing issues. Tinnitus. Most recently the sound of the ocean in my ears.

Nausea that kept me from being able to eat, drink, ride in a car.

Changes in vision, including blurred vision, visual disturbances, and a big decrease in eyesight.

Unfortunately, after seeing a specialist in Houston and in Charleston, I was diagnosed with a large, multicystic, partially solid tumor in the pineal region (center) of my brain. Removal was recommended, so I don’t continue to deteriorate. It was also said that the longer it stays in, the more permanent damage it does. However, my insurance company does not agree with this, stating since it is not cancerous or life-threatening (just life-altering), this surgery is not necessary.
