Le collège Rosa Parks est un collège REP+ (réseau d’éducation prioritaire +) des quartiers nord de Marseille. Nous avons décidé d’emmener des élèves sur les traces de Rosa Parks et de la ségrégation car les enfants sélectionnés font partie d’un parcours d’excellence. Venant d’un milieu défavorisé, ce voyage n’est rien d’autre qu’un rêve pour eux. L’incroyable épopée que ces jeunes entreprendront changera à jamais leur vie. Ils font preuve d’une rare motivation et nous avons créé avec eux un journal anglophone cette année. Les enfants ont eu la chance de rencontrer le Consul Général des États-Unis ainsi qu’un membre de l’Unesco en charge du devoir de mémoire sur l’esclavage et le collectif Les Rosas.
Il ne manque qu’un élément primordial pour pouvoir accomplir ce voyage : le financement. Les élèves ne sont pas en mesure de participer suffisamment au financement d’un tel projet. C’est le voyage d’une vie qui pourrait s’accomplir, et une ouverture au monde qui ne peut être comparée à aucune autre expérience.
L’argent est aujourd’hui un frein à l’épanouissement intellectuel et culturel de nos élèves, C’est pour cela, que nous avons besoin de VOUS.
Rosa Parks middle school is a REP + middle school (priority education network +) in the northern districts of Marseille. We decided to take students in the footsteps of Rosa Parks and segregation because the children selected are part of a course of excellence. Coming from an underprivileged background, this trip is nothing more than a dream for them. The incredible journey these young people will undertake will forever change their lives. They show a rare motivation and we created with them an English newspaper this year. The children had the chance to meet the Consul General of the United States as well as a member of Unesco in charge of the duty of memory on slavery and the Les Rosas collective.
There is only one essential element missing to be able to complete this journey: funding. Students are unable to participate enough in the funding of such a project. It is the journey of a lifetime that could be accomplished, and an opening to the world that cannot be compared to any other experience.
Money is today a brake on the intellectual and cultural development of our students, This is why we need YOU.
