Rowan's story: Rowan busted in the scene on January. Okay- she actually needed to be dragged out by the entire emergency OB team, but she immediately became the center of our family's universe. On Thursday Rowan was rushed to the hospital for what appeared to be a severe infection. After extensive testing we were told the words that no parent wants to hear: your daughter has leukemia.
We are beginning our long journey of an extended month long admission in the hospital for chemotherapy. She will receive several different chemos for ten days and then spend 20 days while they monitor her and give her blood products and medicine to help her body recover. We will then get to go home for a week or two.This will be the first round of at least four stays. We are humbled by the kind words and loving visits from family and friends. Derrick and I are currently processing our new reality and all of the emotional complexity that comes with this new diagnosis. We appreciate all of the positive vibes as our little one fights to get better.
Rowan, Sarah and Derrick (and Meeko...) have a long road ahead. Rowan will have extensive hospital stays and chemo treatments. Sarah and Derrick will likely need to take time off from work and will be traveling back and forth from the hospital extensively. This campaign was created to help support their monetary needs so that they can concentrate on sweet Rowan and help her get better as fast as possible.
