“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

What a stunning reality!  Because of God’s great love for us all, he willingly gave us everything. In love, Jesus laid down his life on our behalf that we may know the one true God, our Father in heaven.

God’s love is, without a doubt, a life-saving power!

On July 22, 2016, I reached my lowest point. My life was devoid of hope that my circumstances would ever change, or of any saving faith that I could continue carrying the weight of life another day; my desire to live was at an end. This day was the culmination of a long battle with depression and suicidal thoughts, which at that time I had decided to quit fighting. Throughout my struggle I questioned why I was being “forced” to suffer through life, why I couldn’t find purpose in or satisfaction from the things in this world, but most importantly why I had nothing in my life I wholeheartedly loved, including even myself. I tried to fill this void with the things I thought would make me happy, along with some that the world had convinced me would as well, yet nothing offered the answers I desperately needed to continue on; none of these things lifted the grey veil depression casted over my life; and none of them could save me from myself.

As I gave in to depression and embraced suicide, God’s voice came through the noise, confusion and pain – He said, “You have no claim on this life. You will never love yourself more than I love you.”  Immediately, I understood His words as an indescribable freedom replaced the crushing weight that had pinned me down.

I will NEVER love myself more than God loves me, so it is for Him I MUST live!

Two days after God saved me I began attending Passion City Church in Atlanta, GA. Each and every Sunday I have the honor of giving back to a house that has never ceased giving to me. Whether it is holding the doors open so that others may enter His house and also experience the love of Christ, or serving the families who attend gatherings at Passion by leading a tent full of 2nd grade boys, it is always a joy to come alongside God’s people.

As I continue to follow Jesus, I have been blessed with the tremendous opportunity to further grow in knowledge of the LORD, and begin studying at Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, TX. I am constantly reminded that when the LORD wants us to move we must trust in Him and go in faith knowing He will make a way.

The semester begins January 16th, yet despite not knowing where I will stay and not having the resources I need to pay the remainder of my tuition, I know my Father in heaven is faithful and I believe His church provides in the most stunning ways.

My prayer is that your generosity is not just an offering to me, but an opportunity for us to join together as brothers and sisters in Christ that we may reach those without knowledge of Jesus’ unfailing love, those without faith in a true and living hope, those searching for everlasting peace, and all those who need the salvation of Jesus Christ.

My eyes were open to the love of Christ on July 22, 2016, and I believe, through your giving, others in our world today will know this great love as well!
