For the past 5 years, instead of accepting a gift, I have raised money for my birthday to donate to some of the non-profit organizations that I care deeply about.
This year for my birthday (October 21), I am raising money to support the China Institute In America. Given the worsening relations between the US and China, it is necessary for us to dispel biases and false notions and contribute towards improving cultural exchange, dialogue, and diplomacy.
As a founding member of the NextGen Leaders Circle (https://www.chinainstitute.org/center-for-business/u-s-china-next-gen-leaders-circle/), we as a group are connecting next generation American and Chinese young leaders with a passion for philanthropy and social innovation through initiatives, forums, and events, with the goal of educational exchange and action-oriented collaboration on important social issues that lead to tangible and meaningful results.
China Institute advances a deeper understanding of China through programs in education, culture, art, and business and is the go-to resource on China—from ancient art to today's business landscape and its rapidly shifting culture.
Founded in 1926 by Chinese reformers Hu Shi (a family friend of mine), K.P. Wen, and John Dewey, China Institute is the oldest bicultural, non-profit organization in America to focus exclusively on China.
I would greatly appreciate your donation to make my birthday another meaningful one where we can collectively contribute to a great cause!
Thank you sooo much in advance, and I look forward to celebrating my birthday virtually with you!
With my deepest gratitude,
