Supporting Tiffany

It is hard to ask for help, even when in crisis.  For this reason, I am reaching out on behalf of my dear friend of 23 years.

Tiffany is a very special person.   A highly respected physical therapist, she heals children and adults on a daily basis.  She has two beautiful children and a wonderful partner, Kelvin.  Tiffany and Kelvin are two of the hardest working people I know.  Both are devoted to others' well-being and health.  Kelvin is a CrossFit coach who has built a large and devoted following in Santa Cruz.   There is nothing these two cannot do.  Tiffany moves mountains for the ones she loves.

To say this has been a rough year for Tiffany would be an understatement.  In January of 2020, her mother experienced a severe and rapid illness that landed her in the ICU within days.  As her mother fought to breathe and live, Tiffany took a leave of absence from work and began driving to Oregon weekly to advocate and care for her.  She spent long days and nights in the hospital, handling all issues with unwavering commitment.  Each week, she made the 8 hour drive back home to be there for her children.  Her mother recovered and is currently thriving.  I believe Tiffany saved her life.

Just as Tiffany was getting back to work, the pandemic hit.  Like many of us, she was unemployed for months.  Kelvin unexpectedly lost his popular Crossfit gym.  Like they always do, they made it work by setting up a make-shift gym at home, creating online classes, and offering 'COVID safe' physical therapy massage.  Anything to make ends meet.  Tiffany was a supportive partner as Kelvin coped with losing a business he had worked hard to achieve.  They continued to stay positive as their hometown of Santa Cruz was then hit with devastating fires and evacuations for weeks.  They also continued to be out of work.

Unfortunately, the challenges keep coming.  Tiffany suffered a debilitating neck injury a few weeks ago and has undergone an intense spinal surgery.   Kelvin was diagnosed last week with cancer - an aggressive prognosis.  This is not Kelvin's first battle with cancer, and soon, he will begin treatment.  Both Tiffany and Kelvin face a long road ahead.  It is times like these when two people who give so much would benefit from giving in return.

I feel a call to action to help my best friend.  She has championed countless fundraisers, always rallying to help those in need.  Now it is my turn to champion her.  Money raised will go to living expenses and food as she heals from surgery and pays medical bills.
