This is my mom, Socorro. She is 73 years old, widowed, and lives alone. About two months ago she called me to share with me that she was having nipple discharge on her right breast and that the nipple itself had started to invert inward.
This did not sound normal to me at all, so I encouraged she send me a picture. After viewing the photo, I immediately took action and scheduled her doctor appointment.
After a mammogram and ultrasound it was discovered that she has a 3cm mass on her right breast.
She has since seen a few different specialists, including a surgeon and an oncologist. A biopsy was done last month and it of course concluded what they were all saying which was my mom has breast cancer. She was told her type of breast cancer is a high grade of Invasive Lobular Carmona (ILC) and fast growing.
It is recommended that she does chemotherapy (Taxotere and Cytoxan) and radiation, followed by surgery to remove the mass if we make it to that point, and she has already had her surgery for the port to be inserted two weeks ago to start this treatment.
Once she starts chemotherapy, we are all unsure how she will respond to the sessions, so the doctor has insisted we make sure there is someone there to help assist her with cooking, cleaning, and driving to and from her treatments.
Your donations will help to relief the stress of the cost for her treatments/dr. visits and also help assist with her bills and groceries.
She currently has Medicare, so she is responsible for paying 20% upfront for all of her doctor visits. If anyone can also help with suggestions on secondary insurance and/or just offer us advise and prayers that would also be greatly appreciated.
