Supporting Jacob's Journey

Donation protected

March 1 started out like any other day for Jacob, a 16 year old sophomore who likes playing video games, hanging out with friends, and babysitting his 15 month old baby brother. Then, at 2 p.m. that afteroon, Ginnie, Jacob’s mom, received a phone call that would make March 1 anything but ordinary. On the phone was the doctor, who informed Ginnie that the lump on Jacob’s neck that the doctor’s attributed to hormones and being a teenager, was lymphoma, a type of cancer. A few days later after some tests, Jacob’s diagnosis became official: Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Suddenly, instead of worrying about getting an A on that history test or making sure he got his driver’s license, Jacob now has to focus on chemotherapy treatments and whether or not the effects of the chemo will make him sterile. Ginnie has gone from making sure that Jacob is home by curfew to setting up countless doctor appointments and keeping track of the list of medications Jacob will need to take to fight this battle, not to mention still needing to care for 15 month old Lucas. Ginnie’s husband Bob works for Amtrack while Ginnie stays home and takes care of their three sons, James, 17; Jacob, 16; and Lucas, 15 months. They are a regular family, just like you and me. Ginnie and Bob are devoted parents who would do anything for their children, but taking Jacob’s cancer away is something they are powerless against.
We need your help so the unimaginable burden that Jacob, Ginnie, Bob, and the rest of their family is facing can become slightly more manageable. Any funds raised will go directly to Jacob and his fight against cancer. Cancer sucks and it is not cheap, but with your help, you could bring a bright spot to a dark situation. Any little bit helps, weather $5, $50, or $100. Positive thoughts and prayers for Jacob and his family are always appreciated as well.
Jacob has to fight a battle at 16 that most would not be able to handle at 60. He is a strong, loving, caring teenager who is a happy and easy-going kid that loves spending time with his family and friends, especially baby brother Lucas. Ginnie and Bob have to watch their son go through the fight of his life. Before March 1, they were just like any family, just going along with their life. Now, they are a family in the fight of their lives that need you. Thank you for reading and for giving what you can.
