Supporting Brianna's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hello everyone, as most of you know by now Brianna was in a horrific car crash on August 17th, 2020.
She sustained many life changing injuries including a broken neck at c2 and broken spine in 6 places, among many other injuries.
She beat the odds and lived that day, however her life has changed forever.
This accident has left Brianna wheelchair bound.

There is a huge misconception that MPI (the only insurance company that Manitobans have for car/auto insurance) will and has paid for all Briannas needs moving forward since the accident, that is simply not the case. Anyone who has dealt with MPI knows this to be true.
Everyday since this accident has been a fight for basic care and necessities to live a somewhat functional life. Brianna and her Fiance Ryan have come into many costs not covered by the insurance company, most recently, a denied request for ADEQUATE Spinal rehab.

Brianna asked to go to Spinal Rehab, as the chances of her walking again with adequate and actual spinal rehab are very good! This would give her the best chance at returning to a functional life.
However funding was denied by the insurance company.

Spinal rehab is $100 an hour for 2-4 hours a day 5x a week.
This program could cost anywhere from 4-8k a month, a cost far to great for Brianna and her fiancé Ryan to keep up with.
It is unknown how long Brianna will need to attend and the estimate for spinal rehab alone for the next 12 months will be anywhere from 50k-97k (depending on the frequency they are able to attend) not including gas, vehicle maintenance or Missed work for Ryan.
When Brianna asked MPI: "to be clear you are denying me the chance to walk down my wedding aisle, the chance to run and play with my future children, the chance to return to work? Because this is my only chance at walking again!"

"It is not in our legislation to provide funding for this type of therapy"

Along with the cost of Spinal Rehab, Brianna's house is inaccessible, she does not have access to her own bedroom and sleeps in a hospital bed in the middle of their living room and has for the past 8 months.
The bathroom is barely accessible to her, a basic human need, and the insurance company won't alter their home to fit Brianna's needs.
They have a full basement Brianna can not access, she can not even get outside by herself.
As a result of the inaccessible home Brianna needs constant care to facilitate her needs. The walls, baseboards, cabinets, doors have all been damaged because they are not wheelchair accessible, and another cost that MPI says is "repaired on case to case basis"
Ryan had to purchase a wheelchair accessible vehicle, not covered by MPI and they do not have a lift so Ryan manually lifts and transfers Brianna by himself.

Brianna and Ryan have done everything they can to fight for adequate care and resources, a fight them or any Manitoban should not have to fight.

Brianna has become a role model to hundreds of thousands of people. She has been such an inspiration to our local communities and on a global scale. She has become an advocate, a leader and a voice that can help change a broken system. Every day since this accident she has put her best foot forward and done her best to stay positive through an impossible situation, never once asking for help, However they desperately need it now.
Brianna was a new nurse at the start of her career, newly engaged, her life had just begun.  If you met her you know she has such a zest for life and she leaves a lasting impression wherever she goes,
and a 4 second mistake by another driver changed her life.

We are asking that the same community that has been behind them for months, watching and cheering her on, help support her journey to walk again and live a more functional life!
Help her walk down her wedding aisle.

Should they surpass this fundraising goal, Brianna has the opportunity to have medical care from doctors in the US that can better help her needs.

Brianna and Ryan would also like to change this broken system to help better serve Manitobans, so no one else  has to go through this. Any extra funds will go towards legal fees and helping them change this legislation.

Above all they would like to thank you all for the love and support you've given them, they can not find the words to describe the gratitude for you all. It means more than anyone can could possibly know.
