Supporting Brampton Music Theatre

Donation protected
We want to take this time to thank you for past patronage and support of Brampton Music Theatre.  Know that we have greatly appreciated your generosity and support of the arts in your community and our organization. For over 57 years Brampton Music Theatre has been delivering quality musical theatre experiences for our community. We offer both a mainstage program at the Rose as well as a youth program at Lester B. Pearson.   The arts are a crucial element in all of our lives.

Sadly due to COVID19 our Spring show Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was cancelled. In addition our youth show Aladdin Jr was cancelled. Combined with the closing of the bingo halls, where we earned money, and schools which ran our youth troupe education program this has resulted in 100% of our income/revenue stream being immediately terminated. The show had costs which we had already incurred. The box office had tickets which needed to be refunded and we can no longer afford to remain at our present physical location. We are looking for funding to support the cost of the storage unit which house our sets/props. Furthermore, in order to be able to re-open effectively, we will need the cost of at least 1 show (potentially 2) in the bank prior to reopening as all of the shows require upfront costs. Your donation will go to ensuring BMT can survive COVID19 and when ready to re-open, we have the funds in the bank to do so.  Even if the ban for large groups was lifted, it couldn't be only at the 25% capacity as that capacity could not support the cost of show productions. Suffice to say, it may be a long haul before we can return and we want to be there.

BMT has been a self supporting organization. We receive no grants (save and except for 1 city grant last year for the youth program of $11,000). We did run 3 bingos a month which helps to some small extent but we mostly rely on our ticket sales to survive. Those ticket sales are now gone, our primary source of income. Without it, we have no means in which to survive. We have lost 100% of our income for 2020.  With an uncertain future, we are looking to find ways to last through the pandemic and get us to a time where we can all enjoy the luxury of sitting in a theatre again together but that time may be quite a ways away and we need to ask for your help in order to help us survive.

Know asking for support in this fashion is never easy. We would be grateful for anything you can provide. If donating for the sake of donating doesn't sit well with you, please consider taking one of the courses we are offering. We know everyone is struggling and we recognize that everyone's situation is unique.  Any donation is greatly appreciated.

Please note, no current subsidies support our non-profit organization as they are all  wage subsidies. BMT has no employees.  The board of directors is comprised of volunteers. The small business loan requires a payroll minimum (again, no employees) and the commercial rent relief requires the landlord to apply for the relief and is somewhat confusing. We simply cannot wait for help to arrive.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  If you have any questions, please email us at [email redacted]
