Supporting Anne McClellan with Cancer Costs

Donation protected
Hi Friends, my name is Grace Peterson. I am seeking support for my sister, Anne McClellan and her loving family as a result of her recent cancer diagnosis. Anne was diagnosed with Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer on November 3rd.

Anne noticed a rapidly growing lump in October and has since undergone several diagnostic tests including ultrasound, mammogram, full body CT, bone scan, and ECHO which revealed a large mass in her right breast. Anne also underwent a lymph node biopsy on November 8th which we have since learned was positive in the ancillary lymph nodes. On Wednesday, November 10th, Anne had a port placed to assist with receiving treatments, and on Friday, November 12th, Anne received her first chemotherapy treatment.

Anne is staying positive and is in good spirits, and for anyone who knows her, this is nothing out of the ordinary. Anne is always optimistic about life, even in the face of adversity, and is a calm and loving presence for everyone around her. She is a loving wife and mother to her two small children (ages 3 and 11 mos), as well as the best sister, friend, and confidant you could ask for.

Anne has spent her entire career caring for others as a Nurse. She received her Nursing degree in 2016, and started her career at Loma Linda in Southern CA nursing patients back to health in the medical/surgical unit. When her husband, Angus, completed his PhD at Claremont, the family moved back to Angus' hometown of Farmville, VA to raise their family. Anne continued her work as a nurse at Centra Southside Medical Center, first in Urgent Care, then as the Clinical Coordinator. While at Centra, Anne helped to stand up the second drive-thru COVID testing site in the state of Virginia (even while pregnant). That's just the type of person she is. She cares for perfect strangers with the same love and dignity that she shows her friends and family. And now, it is our turn to take care of her.

Anne is facing at least a year of intensive treatment to beat this cancer. She will be undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation, as well as at least one (possibly multiple) surgeries over the next year. Anne and Angus will be faced with substantial expenses, not covered by insurance to include: babysitting services during doctors appointments and treatments, meal delivery charges for the nights when she is feeling sick, or is not home to prepare dinner, nanny services to help with children and housework when Anne is undergoing the debilitating effects of chemotherapy and/or radiation, as well as costly medical bills. As some of you know, Anne and Angus just moved to Princeton, NJ, a few months ago. Angus needs to continue to work at the University to support the family, and because of the move they do not have close friends or family nearby to help them.

I am asking for your support to help my sweet sister Anne and her family through this extremely difficult time. Any amount that you are able to give is received with our deepest gratitude and appreciation.
