Action Lesotho Emergency Appeal

Donation protected

The children and vulnerable adults we support are in desperate need due to the impact of COVID-19 on our funding.

We at Action Lesotho are acutely aware of the impact of the coronavirus on people and businesses around the world. In the interests of protecting our wonderful volunteer staff we have made the exceptionally difficult decision to close our fundraising Bookshop and Bric a Brac shop. Without these shops we are facing losses of €6,000 a month. For a small charity like ourselves these are catastrophic figures. Here are some examples of who will be affected.

Each day we care for the well-being of babies from 6 to 24 months old. They receive nutrition daily to prevent irreversible  stunted growth.

Every day we feed 2 to 4 year olds who have come to us seriously malnourished and monitor their weight and measurements.

Each morning schoolchildren, who come from homes with have no food, receive a nutritious breakfast at our Centre before going to school.

We provide grandmothers with nursing care and food supplies as they are often the only care givers in a country devastated by HIV/Aids.

We are a voluntary charity and no member of the team in Ireland draws a salary.

We are asking, in full knowledge of how difficult a time this is for everyone, that you help support us in any small way you can so that we can continue our humanitarian programmes.

Recent times have shown the strength and tenacity of the human spirit here in Ireland. We are filled with pride at the sense of selflessness and community demonstrated. We are asking that you extend that sense of community to those children and vulnerable people slightly farther away, who have no other supports aside from we here at Action Lesotho.

This is a matter of life and death in a country with such poor social supports as Lesotho. Even a donation as small as €5 will feed a child for a month. We appreciate every cent, and will ensure that your money will be used in the most efficient way to feed and support those in Lesotho.

Your support will help these children and grandparents by supporting us until it is safe to reopen our fundraising shops again.

We would like to show our gratitude to you by listing you on our social media (with your permission) as one of our supporters in our greatest time of need.
