Help BlackTrans+Disabled, Chronically ill person escape Domestic Violence.

ZR is raising funds to afford safer housing. Here’s the long and short of it.

First- the short of it.

ZR is a Black, Trans/Nonbinary, Disabled, Chronically ill person who is experiencing domestic violence and food insecurity.

He is raising funds to be able to move into safer housing as soon as possible.

The goal was originally January 1st, but there has been no traction on the fundraiser.

We hopefully will be closer to the goal by March 1st 2024.

More specifically, ZR seeks to raise $10k by March 1st for the following estimated expenses & any incidentals:

First & Last Month’s Rent & Deposit =$4800

Moving Fees- $680

Groceries/Stock Pantry- $670

Basic Home Furnishings (Bed/Mattress/Desk/Loveseat) -$1200

Transit to and From Work for 1st month- $320

Outstanding Medical Debt-$2130

ZR is keeping this fundraiser anonymous to avoid disturbing his already precarious living situation and allow his networks to SHARE THIS FUNDRAISER AS WIDELY AS POSSIBLE.

And - the long of it.

ZR is a Black, Disabled, Chronically ill, Trans+, and Nonbinary person.

ZR lives with multiple family members who are experiencing various crises, substance abuse issues, and verbal, emotional, and physical violence.

ZR is constantly walking on eggshells and trying to appease his family during the daylight hours. And at night, being awakened randomly by family conflicts brought on by substance use.

He very rarely feels safe at home.

ZR contributes to the family budget but is not considered regarding family food sharing. His diet has suffered as a result of food insecurity and the inability to use the kitchen without drawing the attention and ire of his family.

ZR has a job but often misses work days due to flare-ups of his stress-induced chronic illness. Because his insurance lapsed in 2022, he usually has to pay medical bills & copays out of pocket and, as such, has racked up quite a large medical debt.

Because ZR doesn’t drive and his family home is so far from his job, he often uses a large chunk of his salary on rideshare fees to get to and from work. Moving to an apartment closer to his job would reduce these fees.

ZR would like to be out of this violent, dangerous living situation TODAY but is more realistically setting their goal for a March 1st move. Studio and 1 Bedroom Apartments in their area range from $1300-1600 per month. ZR would need to pay a deposit, first and last month’s rent.

ZR must also pay for groceries and stock his pantry upon move-in. He must also secure a comfortable bed, mattress, and other primary furnishings. ZR would also need to pay for transportation to and from work for that first month.

He also wants to pay off his outstanding medical debt and start fresh- debt-free in a safe home.

The excellent news is that ZR was recently approved for Medicaid, and his pain meds were approved, so that is one area where there is no more prolonged stress. This will allow him to rest and save money while engaging in his care in a safe, violence-free home.

ZR understands that $10,000 is a big ask. However, he is tired of living hand to mouth and believes that the world and universe are conspiring with him.

ZR's solid spiritual practice has relieved him in these challenging months. ZR is hopeful and optimistic. He is sassy and artistic. He is loving and gracious and filled with gratitude. Although he comes from a life of struggle and strife, his heart is soft and malleable, and he wants and believes in ease.

ZR has hidden his identity. This is because if his family finds out he is fundraising, they may try to hurt or harm him or kick him out of his already precarious living situation. Please feel free to SHARE THIS ASK FAR AND WIDE.
