In Loving Memory of Maria Gonzalez
We are sorry to announce that our beloved Maria recently passed away. The outpouring of love and support from the Los Altos community has meant a great deal to her husband, Antonio, and the family. Maria was the heart and soul of Loyola Corners and brightened the lives of the Loyola Corners district for 20 years. She was a gracious and wonderful friend, a successful businesswoman, and a mentor to many. She will always be remembered and deeply missed.
About Tom’s Depot:
Known for its beautiful murals depicting the railroad station history of Loyola Corners, Tom’s Depot is an old-style traditional breakfast and grill. Located at 991 Fremont Avenue, Tom’s is a community favorite located in Historic Loyola Corners, in Los Altos, California. This family-owned and operated business is continuing to be run by the Gonzalez family after the passing of Maria.
Tom’s Depot started well before the Gonzalez family bought it, and luckily for all of us, they’ve kept it humming along. Adding almost 20 years to the life of this historic business. Now, they need our help. We thank you in advance for your support of this campaign to support a neighborhood favorite.
Tom’s Depot menu favors a diner-style breakfast, lunch, and brunch, complemented by a Cal-Mex influence. The Tom's Depot staff are a huge asset to the city and the community. They consistently treat everyone with warmth and respect. Each diner is greeted as though they belong. As their website states, “At Tom's Depot you're not a customer, but a member of our family”.
The fact that Tom’s Depot treats its customers as part of their family is only part of the story. The community considered Maria and her family as an integral part of the neighborhood and city. Each time Tom’s Depot has been asked to host city or resident meetings they have always done everything they can to help make it a successful event. Often, generously providing refreshments, at low or no cost.
The community has nothing but good things to say about Tom’s Depot. People are known to comment about it being the best breakfast in all of Los Altos and the surrounding area. They also share how they and their children consider it a home away from home. Many adults recall having meals and ice cream treats there with their parents when they were young, and they now bring their little ones there as well. Residents honestly consider Tom’s Depot a local neighborhood and city treasure.

Help keep this historic business alive! With Covid-19 making it hard for businesses everywhere, we must support them. Please give generously to this long-time community favorite! As contributing members of our community, they have earned our support. As anyone who knew Maria and her family, their appreciation for the community’s support is authentic and reciprocated.
All donations collected will be put toward:
· paying employees
· paying for the restaurant’s rent and utilities
· Tom’s Depot will also use the funds to pay employees that cannot be kept on at this time.

As of this campaign, Tom's has not been able to get any grants or other small business assistance. All donations are much appreciated!

Consider ordering online for takeout or to buy a gift certificate or visiting the restaurant to dine outdoors. Everything is delicious, but people always comment on the omelets, pancakes (try the apple!), milkshakes and burgers. The burritos and daily specials are superb as well.
