Help as new young Mum fights terminal brain cancer at 28

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kasanndra and I have created this GFM on behalf of the Huhse family (my brother & his wife). All donations go directly to the family.

In March 2024 after undergoing an unexpected & sudden brain surgery to remove an apple-sized tumour from her brain, our beloved Brie, mum of 12 month old baby Mack & only recently married to her long time sweetheart Sean, received the devastating news she had Stage 3 brain cancer (Anaplastic Astrocytoma) whilst 4 months pregnant. In the week just passed, the news worsened with Brie’s condition having been upgraded to a Stage 4 Glioblastoma meaning we’ve been told our time with Brie is limited to 12 months. We will never give up hope, our Brie proves everyone wrong.

Given how long we have, is unknown - what I do know, is we, as a family, want to do everything we can to ensure that their time is spent focussing on what matters most - not how to afford the cost of Brie’s treatment, living expenses & the increase in their day to day bills.

Brie, a beautiful, young woman just turned 28. A devoted mother, loving wife, sister, daughter & amazing friend, she has an incredibly gentle soul with a smile that lights up an entire room and eyes the colour of the ocean. She wanted nothing more than to be a mum, and in 2022 successfully fell pregnant with Mack via IVF, now 1 year old. Having recently lost her job due to the impact of the tumour, the responsibility of all financial requirements has fallen solely on Sean’s shoulders.

Sean, my cheeky younger brother, turns 28 in October & is a casual concrete pumper who starts work at any time day or night. Due to the hours required for Sean’s work, Sean had to pack up their family home, put almost everything into storage and move back home with Sean’s parents, to have help looking after baby Mack, and to care for Brie.

Sadly, Sean knows all too well the devastating impact of losing a parent, having suddenly lost his father when he was just 8.

This young family, making plans for their future, dreaming of where to next - are now in the fight of their lives.

Brie will require extensive radiation and chemotherapy in an intense cycle of radiation 5 days a week combined with chemotherapy everyday in 6 week cycles. The family will sadly be split apart during radiation treatment with Brie staying with her family Mon-Fri for support, care & daily trips to & from the Royal Brisbane & Womens Hospital (an almost 1hr drive each way) 5 days a week. Sean & Mack will remain in their new living arrangement in Sean’s parents house, with support from both sets of parents & friends of the family in the care of Mack.

As you can imagine, there is no way this young family had prepared for such life changing news & the flow on effects of it. Whilst Sean & Brie are surrounded by love and support, all the love in the world sadly isn’t enough to keep them afloat. The bills will keep on coming.

We would love to have that side of things taken care of for them, to take the stress of at least 1 thing off their overfull plates.

If you can only spare $5, we are incredibly thankful for every dollar. We don’t have a goal really, nor a closing date for this fund, we just want to spread their story, and hopefully give them the ability to relax on the financial side of things knowing it’s covered, allowing Sean, Brie & Mack to really be in the moment, making memories and holding each other close, as Brie fights the biggest fight of her life.

If you are unable to donate we would appreciate you sharing this post as far & wide as you can.

Thank you, from the bottom of all our hearts.

Kasanndra,
on behalf of the Huhse family
