Two years ago, Jeremy and I (Josh) found ourselves taking up the mantle of coaches for the Knoxville Homeschool KYU (Knoxville Youth Ultimate) Hornets Team.

Two years ago, if you were to say to us, “The Knoxville Hornets will be invited to the 2018 High School National Invite in Rockford, IL on June 9 & 10 and this tournament will feature some of the top teams in the nation” I would have said that you were crazy…but here we are!

It’s been a roller coaster two years, to say the least, but one of our main focuses was to promote Women’s Ultimate within the KYU League. Through the years we’ve had huge success in increasing women’s participation within the Knoxville Hornets; from that success came the Knoxville Lady Hornets, the first KYU women’s team that actively participates in tournaments around the Southeast.

Last year, the Lady Hornets took 2nd in the 2017 TN Highschool State Tournament and this year, in swarm-like fashion, they won their first major tournament, The 2018 Junior Terminus Tournament! With that victory, the Lady Hornets' entrance into the National Spotlight was announced: Now ranked 23rd in the nation – A first for any Knoxville Women’s Youth Team.

The amount of sacrifice that has come from the ladies, and their parents, to get us here has been nothing short of astounding and we can’t tell you how excited we, as a coaching staff, are.

Now, these young ladies have the opportunity to go out and represent the Knoxville Ultimate Community, and Knoxville Women’s Ultimate, again in the 2018 High School National Invite. However, the financial commitment for this trip will be much larger than our previous tournaments and WE NEED YOUR HELP. In order to lessen the burden on the parents, players, and coaches, we are asking for you to Support the Swarm!

Donations will be used for the following travel expenses:

- Tournament Bid Fee
- Hotels
- Van Rentals
- Food & Meals
- Tournament Snacks

Any and all donations, no matter the amount, will be greatly appreciated. Any excess funds will be donated to Knoxville Youth Ultimate (https://www.knoxvilleyouthultimate.com/) 
for the betterment of the league, so that future teams can benefit from your generosity.
