Support the Silent Night Expo

Silent Night
My name is Jitske Nap and I'm organising the Expo Silent Night during Museumnacht Amsterdam 2021 at Sexyland. The exhibition celebrates artists who have a connection to the nightlife scene that fell silent during the lockdowns. It shows how they turned their pain into art. 

Project
When the pandemic hit my work as a nightlife photographer was canceled from one moment to the other. The career I had built so carefully over the years vanished into thin air. I missed my colleagues, lost my identity as a creative, and became financially dependent on the Tozo and savings. In order to turn my pain into something productive and creative I started documenting the empty and silent nightclubs in Amsterdam.

I knew that there must be more artists out there like me, who are resilient and created something positive out of a negative situation. That is why I decided to organise this exhibition Silent Night. Besides, it is my goal to raise awareness for all the beautiful creative minds that work in the nightlife industry. Their work can be considered Art with a capital A and deserves a platform as Museumnacht. 

Funding
In order to finance this exhibition I applied for subsidies such as Amarte, AFK and Cultuurparticipatie Fonds. However, some subsidies were not granted and therefore I am going to pay for the exhibition myself. The minimum of €5000 that is needed to organise the event will cover production costs and a fair fee for the contributing artists. Canceling the exhibition and throwing away more than 6 months of hard work is not an option for me. Besides, I think the resilience and the creative work of my fellow nightlife artists deserves it to be seen and celebrated!

However, the minimum costs of €5000 (ex VAT) to organise this event is a lot for me and something I cannot afford after a year of barely any work due to Covid-19. Therefore, I hope that everyone who has a warm heart for the nightlife industry is willing to donate generously and support the artists that facilitate the dreamy nights of escapism at clubs and festivals.

The artists participating in the exhibition are Dadara ,Dj Collectief Koma Bak2Bak  , Jitske Nap , Robbie Doorman , Casper Strietman , DarkRaum , Iztok Klančar , Ashar Medina  & Julia Rombout  and Xenia Perek  & Arthur Guilleminot .

Besides Museumnacht  I partnered up with Stichting Nachtburgemeester Amsterdam , Amsterdam Ferry Festival  and Sexyland World .

Admission Expo
Admission is free with a Museum Night ticket and with a SEXYLAND membership/entrance ticket (€7,50). I am donating 10 museumnacht bracelets for the 6th of November among the donors. Photoshoot
