Laura Pladsen was a Mother of ten children and a grandmother to her eight grandbabies. The most important things in her life were her were faith and family.

It is with heart wrenching sadness that we share that our Mom died June 15, 2022, only five weeks after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. The last five weeks of her life were at the hospital as we searched for answers and treatment, but in the end, she spent her last days on comfort care surrounded by her ten children. During that sacred last journey, we mourned, we laughed, we prayed, we shared stories, we sang hymns, and most importantly, we were all together.

It is with incredible humility that we ask for your support during this incredibly hard time. We are facing significant end of life related expenses. Even though there are ten of us, we are a young family and we followed our servant Mother’s heart and became teachers, nurses, social workers, and generally people with huge hearts and not deep pockets. We would so greatly appreciate any financial support you are able to give. We also recognize that not everyone is in the position to help financially, but please know that every call, text, card, meal, babysitting, and errand you have provided to each of us, has meant the absolute world and buoyed our spirits through the hardest moment of our lives.

Though her life was too short, we were honored that we got to call her Mom. She was the best we could ever ask for, and everything we needed. We, all ten of us, will carry our Mom with us everyday and are committed to carrying out her legacy by caring for one another, serving our communities, and walking forward on the foundation of faith she laid for us.

With deep sadness, gratitude, and the peace that passes all understanding, we thank you all. We hope you join us for a Celebration of Life June 25th at 3pm at Faith Assembly of God, Hyannis, MA.
