Introduction
We never really expect the unexpected. We all know that very well by now with what’s happening in the world right now. It’s hard to bear even more unexpected news on top of that, but that’s what my brother, Matt Oldham, is now dealing with. This campaign is for him and his family.
What has happened
Within a week of going to the hospital with extreme pain, Matt has been sadly diagnosed with stage 1-2 pancreatic cancer and has recently started an aggressive chemo treatment to fight it.
It was such a sudden shock, their world has been turned upside down.
How You Can Help
As you know, medical expenses can skyrocket in America and it can become impossible to keep on top of all the bills. There are also the everyday costs of living that don’t go away when you become ill.
The future is uncertain.
Matt is the primary provider for their family and with his ability to work being impacted, he and his wife, Cheryl, and young son Caleb, need your help. This fund is focusing on their immediate needs to get them through the next 2-3 months as they learn more and better understand what this is going to look like long term.
As well as helping with medical bills and things like rent and groceries, I would like this fund to also give them chances of respite - to get away, to relax, and even have fun, because times like that help us get through the dark moments.
Understanding the Need
I’m not a stranger to Go Fund Me, and how much it can help in a crisis. A few years ago I was on the receiving end when my son Isaac was born premature and very ill. The money donated sustained us through a very difficult time.
I love my brother very much, he means so much to me, and I want to do this for him. I know this fund has the potential to remove a huge burden from their shoulders while they focus on his strength and health, and try to make sense of all that’s happening.
