Support the Greenhaws as Hendrix battles cancer

We’ve set up this GoFundMe to help support the Greenhaw Family as they navigate the unimaginable. On February 2, 2024, Hendrix turned 2 years old. On February 22nd, he was admitted to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis after a CT scan conducted in the ER showed a large mass in his head and down the right side of his neck, behind the right ear. After further tests and consultations with all of the specialists (neurosurgery, ENT, pediatrics, and oncology), it was determined that he needed surgery to remove the mass as the pressure in his brain began causing lethargy and vomiting.

On Monday, 2/26, he went into surgery where the neurosurgeon opened a portion of his skull and removed what they now believe to be all of the tumor at the base of his brain. Because of blood loss, they did not attempt to remove the tumor behind his ear. After a long wait and confirmation from the Mayo Clinic, Hendrix has been diagnosed with an exceedingly rare and aggressive form of cancer called Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT).

Because ATRT is so rare, we’re in uncharted waters. The best case scenario is eight months of continuous treatments of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and stem cell therapy. There may be days or a couple of weeks at a time that he’s home if everything goes perfectly—but he’s already hit a couple of roadblocks, and treatment hasn’t started yet.

Hendrix’s dad, Billy, is back at work. Hendrix’s mom, Alex, will be taking a leave of absence from a job she loves. Big sister, Emily, is doing the best she can. They’ve already sacrificed so much and are in for a long journey. Any donations received will help supplement the cost of travel to and from the hospital, meals, and the loss of income.
