Support the Fenoglio Family

Braelyn was admitted to Cook Children’s over Thanksgiving break for pneumonia. She had to stay for 5 days because the doctors could not find a medication that worked to fight it off. During that time, she developed an effusion (fluid filled pocket) in one of her lungs that had to be monitored. She was released the Saturday after Thanksgiving after x-rays showed some improvement. After a few short days home, she was readmitted when her fever spiked and x-rays showed her pneumonia and effusion were the worst they have ever been, and the effusion had become infected. Braelyn had surgery to insert a chest tube in the effusion to drain it. The tube will have to stay in for 48 hours to ensure no more fluid accumulates in her lungs.

Her doctors’ goal now is to clear up the pneumonia. They took a culture of the fluid they drained to see what exactly is causing the pneumonia. Once they have those results back, usually within 48 hours, they can (hopefully) get her on the right treatment plan.

Braelyn is an extremely active 8 -year-old who has been sick now for over 2 weeks, and still has a long road of recovery ahead. Her parents, Brittany & Tanner, have had to miss work and the medical expenses are accumulating. Please consider donating to the Fenoglio family to offest some of those costs and missed work days, so all they need to worry about is getting Braelyn well and home. I know it is Christmas time and money always seems to get a little tighter around the holidays, but a little bit will go a long way. 

Prayers are still very much appreciated for Braelyn. Pray no more fluid forms so she is able to get the chest tube out ASAP and that the culture can guide her doctors in the direction of the precise treatment plan she needs. Pray for strength for Brae as her little body, in addition with the correct medication, fights off this illness. Please pray for her doctors, her nurses, and her family.
