Support the Casey's

Anyone who has gone to Dongola School in the past 12 years knows Mrs. Sally Casey as an advocate for her students and her school as well as being one awesome math teacher. She has given until it literally hurts to make the school a better place for her students. If one of her students has a family tragedy, she is totally on board (and usually the main organizer) to get their lives back on track. In fact, when we told her about this GoFundMe, she thought at first that it was for someone else and began asking how else she can help. 

Not only does she go above and beyond every day in the classroom, Mrs. Casey serves this community in countless other ways as well. She can be found at the school during the summers doing painting projects - the hallways, classrooms, gym, and the ballpark are more beautiful because of her work, organizing power, and vision. These projects only happened because of Mrs. Casey. She comes up with the ideas, gets the paint, and organizes students, their families, and staff to work. She is a massive proponent of the annual food drive, storing and counting cans, delivering them to the local food pantry, and baking her famous pink cookies for the class that brings in the most cans. She has been known to tutor students on Saturdays, during the summer, and during her prep time without accepting payment. In the past, Mrs. Casey has led fundraising campaigns to purchase and install new stage curtains in the Dongola Small Gym as well as new mats for both gyms which makes our little school look as great as we all know it is. She also spends time mentoring her fellow teachers to ensure that Dongola students are well cared for by the next generation- I know I wouldn't have made it as a teacher without her guidance on several occasions. This is just the tip of the iceberg that Mrs. Casey doesn’t think twice about doing because she is here to selflessly serve our students, school, and community. 

In recent years, Mrs. Casey has dealt (and continues to deal) with complications from fractured vertebrae and Mr. Tim Casey suffered an accident and other medical complications that have left him disabled at home. Their medical bills have, and will continue to, pile up and the debt has become more than Mrs. Casey’s income alone can manage while still providing for their daily expenses. That is why we are launching this campaign, to support someone who has done so much for us but never asked for a thing in return.

Any funds raised through this campaign will go directly to the Casey's and will be used to pay down their medical bills. Any excess funds will be used for future medical bills because the Casey's plight is far from over.
