Help The Bakery Support Artists + Administrators

Donation protected
Dear World,

Here is an update from your friendly neighborhood arts administrators. As you know, The Bakery is a space and platform with community at its core. While we rely on a wide source of income, most, if not all of it, is centered on gathering in a physical space. Therefore, we are 100% out of work and income.

In light of the quick ceasing of all normal activities and canceling or postponing events, we are forecasting losing $4,000 in March and between $8,000 to $11,000 in April. Thus far, we have lost (cancelled or postponed) over 30 pieces of programming for March and April.

Our base operating expenses are $6,000 per month (rent and utilities, etc) along with $1,000 for supplies. Our core team of 4 part time administrators will be short $3,000 this month as well as supplemental event-related income of $2,000+ that goes to artists and musicians who work freelance gigs.

We hope to be able to bounce back from this by rescheduling events but that is contingent on us making it through this economic crisis. Fortunately, we are all currently healthy and looking at ways to support those in need. We know we are not alone and we are prioritizing the individuals affected by this over bills due but it is all connected. Artists and event organizers are already asking about rescheduling events which is contingent upon us making it through this unprecedented worldwide crisis. In effect, this means we have to make ends meet on our current space at 825 Warner ST and begin immediately making arrangements to rebook this programming at our sister space, New Square Atlanta.

If you are able, any and all donations are very much appreciated toward our goal of $15,000. We will be seeking these funds via this campaign as well as our ongoing support via our Patreon campaign . One time donations can also be made at any time via @Venmo or $Cashapp (thebakeryatlanta). These funds will help The Bakery and our team stay afloat while we live in this unpredictable state of emergency.

Thank you so much for your support! We hope to see you very soon. #BakieLovesYou <3

With Love,
The Bakery Team

P.S. You can support us and so many others in this situation by petitioning Congress to include displaced entertainment workers in the relief package.

"Entertainment workers shouldn’t be collateral damage in the fight against COVID-19. We need a special Emergency Coronavirus Economic Support Benefit geared to include workers who have a bona fide, good faith offer to work that gets canceled due to the coronavirus."
