Support Sweet Briar Farms

Donation protected
Keith Cooper, Owner and Farmer at Sweet Briar Farms , recently suffered a serious accident and is in need of financial support. Cooper and his family are faced with lost income, accumulating medical bills, and little clarity on when or if Cooper can get back to work. Funds will go towards expenses associated with running the farm among other necessities.

More about Cooper:
Running a Farm is no easy task.  It takes hard work, long hours, dedication, and a passion for animals and the earth.  A farmer must be a jack of all trades, understanding business, ecology, and the physical workings of a farm.  That said, farming isn't for everyone.
Cooper does it all.  He's an office manager, an accountant, a cook, a janitor, a feed developer, a carpenter, a welder, a pig herder, a pig hauler, a delivery driver, a boss, a friend, and a father.  I am sure there are some duties I forgot, but you get the point.
If you ask, Cooper will tell you the most important part of his job is animal husbandry.  The well being, health, and happiness of his animals are vital to the success of his business.  There is a fine line between having animals as pets and understanding they are the heart of your business, supplying food to the public. "It's a delicate balance", he says.  Over the years he has nearly perfected this.  He takes care of the pigs like they are the family cats and dogs, sometimes even bringing a runt into his home to bottle feed it and keep it warm.  He knows their personalities, which ones will jump up to greet him, which ones like to be sprayed with water and which ones are shy.  The result of all this hard work is a productive farm with happy pigs making tasty and healthy meat for his customers.
Cooper uses only the best ingredients when formulating his feed.  The wheat is grown by an Oregon wheat farmer in Harrisburg, Oregon.  The vitamins, minerals, and nutrients are of the highest quality containing no additives, preservatives, hormones, antibiotics, or GMO’s. Cooper knows we are what we eat.  His goal is to produce the highest quality meat without compromising flavor.
Happy pigs produce the best product.  When animals can act such as nature intended when their environment is not stressed and when they are treated with respect, they will give back to you what you have given them.  Cooper strives to create the best possible life for his animals.  All of them are a part of him.  It is this part which makes him who he is, a farmer.
