Support Supfrica Platform, Organized By Al-Hassan Hafiz Bakarr, CEO of Techfrica
Dear Africans in Africa and Africans in the Diaspora,
We want to thank and appreciate all of you for the massive support and love shown to us at Techfrica since the release of Supfrica and also call for your support to help sustain the platform for the collective good.
On the 5/01/21, Salone Messenger consented us after testing our beta messaging app called Supfrica that was released on 11/12/21 on Google Play Store created purposely for Africans to connect with each other across the world and for African leaders and Pan Africanists to use as a messaging platform to connect and help build the movement of bringing Africans together, promoting the African culture, sharing African stories, and for Africans to feel safe that their information is well secured in the hands of their African brothers and sisters.
We were surprised and overwhelmed by the love Africans have shown to us since the release of this platform; with the support of the PLO Lumumba Foundation, Pan African Daily TV, United States of Africa, EyeGambia, Salone Messenger and many other national, international media outlets and individuals who played key roles to promote the platform, Supfrica has reached over 130,000 + downloads in a space of 4 days making the application the top free messaging app on Google. We are much grateful to every single one of you who contributed to this success.
What this surge in numbers means is that, there is a financial obligation to better manage and sustain the platform; this was a beta test and just one of the numerous platforms created by Techfrica to help bridge the tech gap in Africa. Whilst 90% of our resources were invested in our music streaming platform named audiofrica, which was created for African musicians and content creators to earn from their talents through pay per stream, we didn't have much saved to invest in the Supfrica platform to ensure that we increase the server, the OTP which allows users to receive 6 digit code to be able to access the platform, pay our staff working tirelessly behind the scene to make updates, and address the genuine concerns and suggestions of users since the application went viral among other challenges.
However, this challenge does not affect our resolve to maintain the vision of ensuring that our African brothers and sisters use the platform for free without charges. This we believe will make the platform a very inclusive one economically. Alternatively, our Chief Executive Officer, Hafiz Alhassan Bakarr Kanu Sr had a couple of interviews with African TV stations and media houses across the continent and beyond with many of them suggesting that we call on the African community to support and sustain this initiative which has been built by us, for us.
For this reason, we created this GoFundMe account for Africans in Africa and Africans in the diaspora to donate any amount to support the movement for technological independence in Africa. As said by the revolutionary, Patrice Lumumba, “African Unity and solidarity are no longer dreams; they must be expressed in decisions.” We at Techfrica took the decision to create a platform as a contribution towards the much desired African unity and true independence; it is your turn to take your decision to sustain it.
