We are friends of Shine Siamkwari, originally from Zimbabwe and based in Sheffield (UK), where he has lived since 2002 and has been a valued member of the community. For many years, he worked in the healthcare sector and later went on to study nursing at Sheffield Hallam University, dedicating his life to caring for others. We are coming together to raise funds to help save his life.
In December 2024, Shine was hospitalised after suddenly losing the ability to swallow food or even fluids. What was first thought to be an oesophageal stricture later became a devastating diagnosis of oesophageal cancer, following months of procedures and painful uncertainty.
After exhausting all available options in the UK, Shine was informed that the NHS could not offer any further treatment and that he had only a few months to live. Refusing to give up, he made the courageous decision to seek urgent, life-saving treatment in India, where alternative options were available.
He is currently undergoing an intensive treatment programme that includes chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery.
Shine has already begun treatment, but the costs are overwhelming and his funds are now running out. We are hoping to raise £30,000 to help cover medical treatment, hospital care, and essential living expenses while he continues this fight.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help give Shine a fighting chance. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page.
Thank you for standing with Shine during this incredibly difficult time.
