Support Selena Arteaga with Brain Tumour Diagnosis

Donation protected
*As Selena is very tired we will welcome your messages and give them to her at the times that suit her best. We hope you understand that she will not be taking calls or visits, nor answer messages herself.*

In February 2024 our beloved friend Selena was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour out of the blue.

After suffering a short episode of strong headaches and a loss of vision Selena was admitted to hospital where a series of tests tragically revealed she has a grade IV Glioblastoma tumour - malignant, fast growing and inoperable due its large size and difficult location deep within her brain.

The impact of this diagnosis has been devastating for Selena and her two daughters, Alexie and Coleen, as well as for her immediate family and large circle of friends and loved ones.

Throughout Selena’s two decades in Ireland she has made an undeniable impact on so many of our lives, running French language clubs for kids, through her work in the library at the LFI, and more recently as the manager at Le Chocolat de Frèd café.

She has been the centre of a bright and meaningful community for us all and whether you’re a customer, former student, neighbour, or friend, you have known the welcoming presence that Selena has brought to Dun Laoghaire.

Over the coming six weeks Selena will undergo an intensive course of treatment combining radiotherapy and chemotherapy as an outpatient at St.Lukes hospital.

While she and her family deal with this life-changing situation, financial support will be hugely important as her daughters and siblings have taken time off work to care for and spend time with her. In order to ensure her comfort and basic needs, money is urgently needed to cover the costs of her at home medical needs, rent, everyday care, expenses, travel to the hospital for the daily treatments, and any remainder to help with travel for relatives to see her.

Donations of any scale are welcomed, large or small. Your kind financial support will help Selena and her family to navigate their way through the most difficult time of their lives. With your help, we can provide Selena with the calm, restful environment she needs to ensure she can spend as much valuable time as possible with her loved ones.

Please donate and share if you can. If you are not in a position to donate at the moment, we would be extremely grateful if you could share with your community.

Once again, as Selena is very tired we will welcome your messages and give them to her at the times that suit her best. We hope you understand that she will not be taking calls or visits, nor answer messages herself.

Merci et bisous from the Arteaga family
