Hello!
Retired Fargo Police Department canine, K9 Blue, was recently diagnosed with bilateral perineal hernias and an enlarged prostate. Perineal hernias are ruptures of the muscle that keep the internal organs from emerging outwards. Both the hernia and enlarged prostate make it difficult for Blue to pass stool and will require surgery: neutering to shrink the prostate and reconstructing the muscle wall to close the hernias.
Just a little bit about Blue:
Blue worked alongside his handler, Sgt. Sam Bollman, from August 2017 to December 2025 as a dual-purpose K9, trained in narcotics detection and patrol work. His impact on the department was huge, with over 1,000 deployments, 39 pounds of narcotics seized, $65,000 in cash seized, and 119 arrests. He was very instrumental in keeping our community and officers safe!
Blue now lives at home with Sam and has been in great health until the recent hernias occurred. Please consider helping out my friend, who wants to give Blue the quality of life he deserves in retirement. The surgery will also require travel, as the local surgeon does not perform it. Without this procedure, Blue will have a very difficult future.
Thank you very much for your consideration.
