I NEED YOUR HELP !!    SHE MADE ME PROMISE NOT TO PUT HER IN A CARE HOME WHEN SHE BECAME TOO MUCH.     THIS TOTALLY BROKE ME!

Eight years ago, our daughter Rebekah was studying for her A level exams and would have been hoping to go to University to study medicine when she started having headaches and vomiting. After a week of visiting different medical professionals and being told there was nothing wrong with her, we ended up going back to A&E and, after several hours, were told it was down to studying. A consultant told her they would scan for peace of mind, and to their disbelief, they found a large mass in her cerebellum. She was then immediately rushed to the UHW hospital in Cardiff. That week she had an 8-hour surgery and was later diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a very aggressive brain tumour.

After several surgeries, 18 weeks of radiation, years of chemotherapy, and sepsis twice, she has again relapsed with multiple tumours, which are now inoperable. Radiotherapy is no longer an option for her due to excessive treatment causing loss of memory, balance and mobility issues, loss of hearing and speech impairment.

She has now been offered palliative treatment to hopefully shrink/manage these tumours. Still, we don't know how long she can tolerate the treatment as her bone marrow isn't coping with the amount of treatment she has received and was receiving blood transfusions every few weeks until she had to stop due to sepsis.

She is now 25 and cannot live independently due to her disabilities. She has accepted that she will never recover from this cruel disease and live a full life.

I'm telling this story hoping that I can raise enough funding to help me extend our home, giving Rebekah a private haven with an ensuite instead of a commode and a floor to floor lift to allow her direct access to this haven. This will be a room where she will spend a lot of her time whilst on chemotherapy and later in her illness when she will be unable to manage stairs or get to our downstairs bathroom. The haven will allow her to have some semblance of privacy and independence whilst still being close at hand for us to care for her needs.

Thank you for taking the time to read Rebekah's story, and we appreciate any donations, whatever the value.
