It’s official, I am in the selection of the Dutch national wheelchair handball team! I am very honored and pleased to be the FIRST and only athlete from my province to represent the Netherlands.
After years abroad and during an intensive rehabilitation for adults with paraplegia, I started competing in wheelchair sports and joined a regional team in mid-2017. It has enabled me to rediscover my talent in sport and now I know what sport can mean in your life.
It’s been a challenging and exciting journey to get there! Two years of training, sweat, blood, tears and also a lot of fun lead to this unexpected dream: competing in the international arena!
This is a dream that is coming true and now I NEED YOUR HELP to turn this dream into reality.
As you might know, this journey will be costly. Only to train, I have to travel by car 250 km back and forth. Flights, housing, equipment, clothing and competition fee are not cheap. I still need more funding to be able to make it down there as I have used up all of my savings. This is why I am asking for your help and donations to get me across the borders of the Netherlands and on to that European competition floor.
Break Down of Costs: * Travel by car: 800 € * Own contribution tournaments abroad: 700 € * Flights and hotels: 1200 € * Materials and equipment: € 300 * Sport clothing: 200 * Meals: 300 €
Total: 3500 Euros for 2019-2020
Your donation will make it possible for me to compete with and against all those amazing athletes that have been my inspiration since I’ve learned about this sport. Every amount is welcome, no matter how small. To thank and give back, I will post regular updates on my page and I will participate in free clinics to promote sport for people with disabilities. Sharing the campaign is a big help and much appreciated.
