10 years ago an idea crossed my mind to create Pittsburgh's version of the Honk Festivals. The concept was to host a free community event that promotes cross-cultural music and food free of corporate sponsors and outside interest. It was an experiment in community programming with the hopes to bring together diverse groups of music and culture for a celebration in the park.
Now 10 years later the event has grown to welcome thousands of attendees and created partnerships and collaborations between performers, activists, and attendees.
This year as we celebrate 10 years of free programming we are asking for your support to help us cover basic production costs such as additional porta potties, lighting, band accommodations, and other programming expenses.
As our event continues to grow so does the budget. To keep it free and open to the public we look towards monetary donations from those who can afford to help out.
