We are friends and supporters of Pat Morton, a respected Quesnel resident, income tax professional, former City Councillor, and proud community member for over 45 years.
On March 19, 2024, and April 2, 2024, Pat became the target of false and defamatory attacks following City of Quesnel council meetings. Statements made by Councillor Laurie Ann Roodenburg, and later a letter from the Union of BC Indian Chiefs (UBCIC), mischaracterized Pat’s actions and intent regarding the book GRAVE ERROR HOW THE MEDIA MISLED US (AND THE TRUTH ABOUT RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS).
These statements were widely circulated and later reported by the media, resulting in a wave of public backlash, online hate, and serious harm to Pat’s reputation, her professional standing, and personal life.
This attack didn’t stop with Pat. Her husband, Ron Paull, the Mayor of Quesnel, was also subjected to political and public pressure as a result of false allegations. Both Pat and Ron have dedicated much of their lives to public service, and the impact on their family has been devastating.
Pat has filed lawsuits against Councillor Roodenburg and UBCIC and may be preparing additional claims. She is representing herself to reduce legal expenses, but filing fees, process serving, and court-related costs remain significant—not to mention the risk of the court ruling against her.
This fundraiser will help Pat continue her pursuit of truth and accountability.
Any funds raised beyond her costs will be used to support others who find themselves in similar situations—falsely accused, silenced, or targeted without the means to defend themselves.
Please consider donating or sharing this campaign. Your support means so much.
With appreciation,
