Greetings from the 2019-2020 St. Francis Show Choirs. We have over 125 students geared up as a part of our show choirs and show bands this year who are committed to being good students, good citizens, and have been working their tails off to make this year’s show choir sets more competitive than ever. We begin our competition circuit in January, but our season actually began in August when we had our first camp to begin learning the choreography and music for our sets. We hope you can make it to some of our upcoming performances this year at our school concerts or our out-of-town competitions… or both! The students in our show choirs are part of a team that dances, plays, sweats, and works together all year long. They become a community that learns to rely on and help each other in and out of the classroom. In addition to rehearsing and preparing our sets, each of our singers and instrumentalists participate in fundraisers to help offset the costs of what it takes to make the show choir run. It is important to us that raising funds be about helping other people in addition to helping ourselves. Regardless of how much we raise, we believe it is important that we come away from this experience with lasting memories and the feeling of what it is to give back to our school and community. Many of our students already give much of their time and energy to school and community initiatives.
This spring, each of our players will participate in a community park and school clean up effort. We aim to complete a minimum group total of 250 hours of community service!
Instead of knocking on doors to sell items, our musicians have identified significant people in their lives (that’s you!) who they would like to share in this endeavor. The money that is pledged will help us reach fulfill our travel costs to our competitions this season. We are all very proud of what we have accomplished together in the few months it took us to prepare our sets, both on stage and off. Any donation that you are able to offer will help us continue to share our talent at local and out-of-state competitions. We aim to represent St. Francis the best we can!
