Reading Against Intolerance

Enough of the Hate
Intolerance, hate and prejudice have been on the rise of late across various parts of the world.
In Nigeria, political fissures, divisive ethno-religious rhetoric and other underlying tensions like the recurrent farmer-herder conflicts and the perennial North-South enmity are driving the populace towards the same precarious extremes that led to the unfortunate Civil War of 1967 -70.
Surely we can’t sit back and let history repeat itself.
Worried about the above, +234Express® Communications (www.234express.com) - an independent publishing firm based in Abuja, recently launched the Reading Against Intolerance (RAI) Initiative - aimed at inspiring tolerance and cross-cultural understanding among our young ones.
The Project is currently on a nationwide book donation drive to expose Nigerian children to inspirational stories from all across the country; teaching them that though people may differ in tribe and beliefs, they still share the same timeless human values and should be treated with love and respect.
Follow our progress on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/234Express.RAIproject
The drive has since donated hundreds of books from the popular Nigeria Heritage Series to various schools, libraries and book clubs.
With your support the initiative can distribute hundreds of thousands more to kids across the the country.
Let’s put an end to intolerance!
