Help Ms. Tacky Rebuild After a Devastating House Fire

Donation protected
We are raising funds for Ms. Tacky and her partner, who lost everything in an apartment complex fire.

From Tacky:

"After being homeless on and off for years I moved in on May 26th happy that I would finally have a place of safety where all of my stuff can be together. I was excited for peace and relaxation.

I woke up in the middle of the night around 3am on the 29th when a smelled gas. I checked the stove and it wasn't on so I thought someone was grilling. I got some water and was wondering why I felt so heavy. Then I walked into a room and saw a flame outside. It was large. Right on my patio.

I woke up my partner as fast as I could and grabbed a blanket because I was naked. I banged on my neighbor's door screaming fire while my partner jumped down the stairs and we both ran outside. I screamed 'fire, help help" while I ran across the street with no shoes on. I saw people run out screaming. By the time I was out, half of the building was in flames.

I banged on my neighbor's door screaming for them to call the fire department.

Luckily they were nice and let everyone in and gave me some clothes but by the time I looked at the apartment, it was all in flames...it was gone.

I almost fainted because I worked so hard to get to where I was and by my 3rd day there it was all gone. My drag, craft stuff, makeup, books, outfits, shoes, purses, my stuffed animals, my dolls, my brief moments of comfort were gone. I felt cursed. I cried for hours hearing people cry about their dead pets. It took 5 hours for the fire to go away but by that time they bulldozed it down. There was no saving anything.

I remember walking to the apartment and finding one of my stuffed animals still ok. She was burnt and water damaged but she was the only thing I had left. I couldn't stand anymore because everything I worked for was gone. And she was left.

I'm staying with my partner's parents right now."

Funds will go towards:

Tacky's new housing (budgeted for first and last month's rent and a security deposit)

Replacing furniture such as a couch, bed frame and mattress, and buying a U-Haul to transport these items.

Replacing her phone, laptop, and sewing machine.

Groceries and gas money.

Replacing clothing, shoes, and essential medicine.

Any support, even sharing this GFM, is greatly appreciated.
