Support Mowie & Baby Cat's Health Journey

Hi there,

My name is Lauren and I’m reaching out with a humble heart to ask for help for my two senior cats, Mowie and Baby Cat, who have been with me for more than half my life. They are my family, my heart, and my responsibility; and I have done, and will continue to do everything I can to give them the life they deserve.

Baby Cat has been living with diabetes for a few years and was recently diagnosed with possible IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) or cancer. We don’t know exactly which one it is until we are able to bring him to a specialist that can accurately diagnose his condition, as well as work to manage both his diabetes and new diagnosis. As of now, he requires a strict prescription diet, daily insulin injections, a specialized vet, and ongoing in-house testing to make sure his diabetes is stabilized.

Recently this week, Mowie, his younger brother, was rushed to the vet after vomiting blood and had stopped eating. After an emotionally exhausting few days, he’s been diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. He now also requires a strict prescription food diet, daily medication, and routine lab work for consistent monitoring as he still is fighting to regain his strength.

The ongoing medical costs: prescription foods and medications, diagnostics, x-rays, needles/syringes, specialty vet care and routine appointments are piling up faster than I can manage. Their prescription food alone is around $500/month, insulin and needles around $200, and vet visits anywhere from $300 to $2,000 per visit, depending on tests and procedures.

I am currently working roughly 60 hours per week and making personal sacrifices to try and manage their expenses; however, it is becoming increasingly difficult, as well as physically and mentally exhausting being away so much when I simultaneously need to be monitoring their progress as well.

Asking for help is not ideal, I've been trying to do this all on my own and am at the point where I can’t keep up and need help to give them the care they need and deserve.

Both of their diagnoses are lifelong illnesses that will need treatment for the rest of their lives. These boys depend on me, and I would go to the ends of the earth to make sure they are safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible.
