Support Mounir following the passing of his mum.

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who so generously donated to Mounir's Go Fund Me. With your support he has been able to celebrate his mother's life and has started working with a case manager and his school support team to manage his housing, financial planning for the future, his mental and physical health. This fund is now closed.

Mounir Merai is a 17 year old, Year 11 student at Princes Hill Secondary College. He and his mother, Helena, contracted COVID 5 weeks ago. Sadly, Helena passed away on Sunday morning after spending 10 days in an induced coma.

 

Princes Hill Secondary College and the Railway House community have organised this fundraiser to provide immediate financial support to Mounir.

 

Your kind donation will go towards:

• Helena’s cremation and memorial service (Approx $3500 including purchase of an urn, cost of room hire, catering and associated costs)

• Mounir’s living expenses over the next few months including rent, bills , food and other costs while other arrangements can be made. (Approx $4500 over 4 months including VCAL/VET costs in 2022)

 

Funds, including any additional funds over the target of $8000, will be managed by the Manager of The North Carlton Neighbourhood Railway House. 

All invoices and costs will be paid via the Manager in consultation with Mounir and his school support team. This has been approved by Mounir and his next of kin in consultation with Go Fund Me management.

Mounir wishes to express his sincere gratitude to everyone for their kindness and support during the past few weeks.

This fundraiser has been organised by Sue Tyrie, VCAL Coordinator and Felicity Marlowe, Student Wellbeing Coordinator with support from Allison, Manager of The North Carlton Neighbourhood Railway House. We are working closely with Mounir to develop a short, medium and long term plan for his future.
