Help Henry Montgomery Rebuild His Life

Henry Montgomery is coming home!

After 57 years, 9 months, 2 weeks and 2 days, Henry Montgomery is finally free!

In 2016, Montgomery v. Louisiana led to a landmark Supreme Court decision that gave new hope to individuals who had been sentenced to life without parole as juveniles.

Since then over 800 of those men and women have come home.
But Henry, the namesake and petitioner of that Supreme Court case, inexplicably remained in prison...until today!

The Louisiana Parole Board, which previously voted to deny Henry parole on two separate occasions, finally came to the same conclusion the Supreme Court did years ago, Henry doesn't need to be incarcerated any longer.  Henry has redeemed himself; he is rehabilitated.  The Board agreed to grant him parole.

At this very moment, 75 year old Henry is doing something that he hasn't experienced since he was 17. He is walking out into the world as a free man.  He is free of the limitations that incarceration demands.  He is free to make his own decisions and free to experience life on his own terms.

But Henry's homecoming will not be the end of his struggles.
We need you to help us help Henry through the challenges ahead.
We need you to help us give Henry the Homecoming he deserves!

When Henry leaves Angola, he will walk out into a world he does not recognize with his meager belongings in a single bag. Our team at Parole Project will be there every step of the way to lend support and provide guidance for Henry just as we did for the 223 other men and women who also served long sentences that came before him. However, the costs associated with caring and providing for seniors are much higher than they are for the typical client. Henry comes to us without a family nor does he have any friends who still live on the outside.  This means there is no one to subsidize the cost of Henry's daily life and we will be the sole means of support for Henry until he can start contributing and providing for himself.  After living the vast majority of his life in prison we want to see Henry living out the rest of his days enjoying the best quality of life he can.

This is why we are asking you to help us help Henry.
Help him today!

We at Parole Project will house him in a safe and secure environment, we will provide reentry programming and services, we will be the family Henry Montgomery no longer has.

We will help Henry to navigate his new life but we NEED YOU to help Henry rebuild it.

Any support you give to this GoFundMe will go directly to Henry Montgomery. Thank you!
