Support MLK MS families during Covid-19

Due to the sudden school closure, essential supports for our youth and families are in peril. We have an onsite Food Bank for our families. Over 200 of our students eat breakfast and lunch at school daily and depend on the food provided at school. We have 464 students.
Over 80% of our families live below the federal poverty level. A family of 4 making less than $50,000 or less qualifies for free or reduced lunch.
During this time, we would like to provide gift cards to grocery stores (FoodsCo or Safeway) as a support to our families. With the money raised, we will be distributing them directly to the families. We are in regular communication with our families. The funds will be directly used to purchase the gift cards. Families will get pick them up from school or if unable, a no contact drop off.
